The Institute for Palestine Studies plays a pioneering role in encouraging academic research on the question of Palestine and on the Arab-Israeli conflict. It has supported a large number of researchers in their research endeavors and has helped to train them in the principles of academic research. From the outset, IPS has also recognized the importance of training Arab researchers to work on Israeli studies and the need to translate basic sources on Israeli issues, both historical and current.
