Event | On 4 April 1948, battles had started between the Arab Liberation Army, led by Fawzi al-Qawuqji, and Haganah forces for the control of the city of Haifa. On 21 April, British forces suddenly evacuated the city, enabling the Haganah to occupy it the next day, causing the displacement of its residents.
