Thematic Chronology | On July 30, 1980, the Israeli Knesset enacted a Basic Law with a constitutional character to perpetuate East Jerusalem's annexation and continue its Judaization. The Law stipulated that united Jerusalem with its western and eastern parts be the capital of the State of Israel, the seat of the Presidency of the State, the Government, the Knesset, and the Supreme Court. Furthermore, it stipulated that the government should give "Yerushalayim" a priority in development projects to guarantee its prosperity and the well-being of its residents.
