Biography| Jabra Ibrahim Jabra, born in Bethlehem, was a novelist and painter, who witnessed the tragedy of his people and acquired a profound appreciation of his surroundings. After the Nakba in Palestine, he immigrated to Iraq, where he worked in the fields of education and culture. Critics considered him one of the most prolific and versatile Arab writers, as he wrote novels, stories, poetry, drama, critiques, and excelled in the field of translation. His translations of William Shakespeare were among the finest translations into the Arabic language.
