Thematic Chronology| On this day in 2008, the Israeli government took a decision to launch a massive aggression against the Gaza Strip, after the end of a six-month truce with Hamas. Its forces imposed a debilitating siege on the Strip after Hamas took control of it in the summer of 2007. This aggression, which began on December 27, lasted 22 days, killing and injuring hundreds of Palestinians, and destroying dozens of schools, mosques and residential buildings.
