Thematic Chronology | The Second Arab Summit, held in Alexandria between 5 and 11 September 1964, welcomed the founding of the Palestine Liberation Organization. The establishing came following the First Arab summit’s decision to organize the Palestinian people and revive their political entity, and the success of Ahmad al-Shuqairi—Palestine’s representative to the Arab League—in convening the Palestinian National Council in Amman at the end of May of the same year, from which the Palestine Liberation Organization emerged.
