José S. Vericat is a senior adviser at the Brussels-based European Institute of Peace. He has a PhD in Oriental studies from the University of Oxford, and his academic research focuses on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Gaza Strip, and the religious discourse of Islamist movements.
