Authors must submit their manuscripts through the JPS Submission Portal here.

The Journal of Palestine Studies (JPS) is a refereed multidisciplinary journal published by Routledge, Taylor & Francis on behalf of the Institute for Palestine Studies. Since its founding in 1971, JPS has been the English-language academic journal of record on Palestinian affairs. The Journal publishes original articles that span the humanities and social sciences, including, but not limited to, history, political science, international relations, law, economic development, geography, sociology and anthropology/ethnography, as well as gender and queer studies, literature, and the arts. Contributions on communities that have historical, political, and cultural ties to Palestine are also of interest to the Journal.

Submission Guidelines

Please note that this journal only publishes manuscripts in English.

The Journal of Palestine Studies accepts the following types of submission:

Articles: 8,000–10,000 words.
Essays: 3,000–6,000 words.
Reports: 5,000–7,000 words.
Special Document Files: Should include a framing introduction of 1,500–3,000 words. Accompanying documents may appear in full or excerpted, at the Journal’s discretion.
The word count includes the main body of text and endnotes. It does not include the title or abstract.

Articles submitted to JPS should be based on original research and careful analysis of primary sources. We look for clarity in argument, innovative empirical, theoretical, and methodological contributions, and thorough engagement with relevant scholarship.

The Journal seeks manuscripts that make novel contributions in Palestine studies. JPS will not review manuscripts that are under consideration for publication elsewhere or with contents that have been substantially published elsewhere. Papers that do not meet the guidelines described below may be returned.

Please see "Instructions for Authors" here for a detailed explanation of our submission guidelines and submit via Taylor and Francis online.
