This monograph analyzes the politics of the Soviet Union during the twelve months following the Camp David Agreements. The paper sheds light on the opportunities and challenges faced by Soviet policy-makers as a result of Camp David, as well as on the effect of Camp David on Soviet-Arab bilateral and multilateral relations. Finally, the study evaluates the effect of Camp David on Soviet-Arab bilateral and multi-lateral relations.

Rashid Khalidi is the president of the American Committee on Jerusalem, Washington, D.C., Edward Said Chair in Arab Studies at Columbia University, director of the Middle East Institute at Columbia University, and editor of the Journal of Palestine Studies. He is author of major works on the Middle East.
