Résumé

This study explains how the Israelis planned the invasion of Egypt in 1956, the reasons they gave for the invasion and the role played by the United Nations in the crisis. It also contains a descriptive analysis of the withdrawal of the Israeli troops from the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip behind the Armistice Demarcation Lines.

Walid Abi-Mershed, was a member of the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture. He studied for his Bachelor and Master degrees at the American University of Beirut, majoring in Political Science and Public Administration.
