About the event:

The fall, 2010 issue of the Journal of Palestine Studies features an article by Curtis Brown and Diana Allan of Harvard University. One of the authors, Curtis Brown, spoke with Palestine Studies TV about their article. They discuss the role of new and social media in the debate over the facts and implications of Israel's May 31, 2010 attack on the Mavi Marmara ship in the Gaza Freedom flotilla, which aimed to break Israel's embargo of Gaza by delivering $20 million worth of humanitarian supplies, food and medicine. They question whether new media and Web 2.0 allow activists to level the playing field against a state with a well-funded PR apparatus and access to traditional mainstream media.

About the speakers:

Curtis Brown is a doctoral student at Harvard University
