Thematic Chronology | On August 26, 2014, Israel and the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip reached a truce under Egyptian auspices that ended long Israeli aggression that the Israeli government codenamed Operation Protective Edge. The aggression began on July 8, 2014, with massive air raids carried out by Israeli planes on the strip’s cities and camps. Before, on August 17, Israel had launched a ground invasion.
