This paper points to the value of personal narratives as a source for historians of the Palestinian people, arguing from the need to revise concepts of national history to include the experience of nonelite classes, women, localities, and the diaspora. Life stories recorded be- tween 1990 and 1992 with women of different generations from Sha- tila camp in Lebanon are used to support this argument.
