Stephen Bennett is the Director of the Institute for Palestine Studies-USA in Washington, DC. He received his MS in History from Illinois State University and his PhD in Communication Studies from the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on historical and contemporary media representations of Palestine and the Arab-Israeli conflict, film studies, cultural studies, and critical theory. His master’s thesis was awarded the Cavanagh Award for Best Thesis in Global History. Before joining IPS-USA, he attended the Palestine and Arabic Studies Program at Birzeit University and was the Education and Outreach Coordinator at the Institute for Middle East Studies at the George Washington University. He was also an adjunct instructor of history at Illinois State University, and taught courses in mass communication and media studies at the University of Minnesota and St. Olaf College. He currently resides in Arlington, Virginia, US.
