Salma Khadra Jayyusi (1925-2023)

Biography | Salma Khadra Jayyusi studied Arabic and English literatures at the American University of Beirut and received her Ph.D. from the University of London. She taught at several Arab and American universities. She emerged as an original poet, a notable critic, and a skillful translator, and was called the “doyenne of Arabic literature” and a “cultural institution in its own right.”
