Document | After the “al-Buraq Uprising" (August 1929), the British government issued a "White Paper" that considered the possibility of restricting Jewish immigration to Palestine. To alleviate the anger of the Zionist Organization’s leadership, Prime Minister Ramsey MacDonald wrote a letter to Chaim Weizmann, assuring him that “the undertaking of the mandate is an undertaking to the Jewish people and not only to the Jewish population of Palestine.”
