Biography | As‘ad al-Shuqairi, father of Ahmad al-Shuqairi, was born in Acre. In 1908, he was elected to the Ottoman Parliament and in 1914, was appointed Mufti of the Fourth Ottoman Army. During the British Mandate period, he joined the ranks of opponents of Muhammad Amin al-Husseini's leadership of the Palestinian national movement and participated in 1934 in the founding of the National Defense Party.
