Biography | Said al-Shawwa was born into an affluent family in the Shuja‘iyya neighborhood of Gaza. In 1906, he headed the Gaza Municipal Council and supervised the construction of the municipal town hall, the Amiri school, and the Municipal Hospital. He was involved in the struggle of the Palestinian national movement after the British occupation of Palestine, and was elected as the representative of the southern district in the Supreme Moslem Sharia Council.
