Biography | François Abu Salem was one of the most prominent founders of the Palestinian theater movement in the occupied Palestinian territories. He established, in particular, El-Hakawati troupe in Jerusalem, which became the first Palestinian troupe to perform at international venues. For his pioneering role, Palestinian President Yasser Arafat awarded him the Palestine Prize in 1998.
