Laura Albast
Laura Albast is a Palestinian journalist, editor, and media analyst. Her publications and appearances include The Washington Post, The New Arab, Arab American News, Doha News, Al Jazeera, TRT World, KPFA, and other outlets. She is also a professional Arabic/English translator who contributed to dozens of video, audio, and print projects, including Bloomberg Businessweek, The Nation, FIASCO podcast, The Common, and Skin Deep magazine. Her poetry has been published in Romman Cultural, Sekka Magazine, and the Ghassan Kanafani Resistance Arts Anthology. In 2022, she guest-edited and translated Palestine: Ways of Being, published by the UK-based creative magazine Skin Deep. She holds degrees from the American University of Beirut and Boston University.
She is currently the Senior Editor of Digital Strategy and Communications at the Institute for Palestine Studies-USA in Washington, DC, and the managing editor of the Institute's English blog, Palestine Square.
Laura is a member of the Arab and Middle Eastern Journalists Association (AMEJA), the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA), and the American Copy Editors Association (ACES). She has received media training fellowships from Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), Knight Foundation, and The Poynter-Washington Post Leadership Academy for Diversity in Media.
