The Institute for Palestine Studies-USA (IPS-USA) Board of Directors convened its annual meeting on December 15th at 5pm at the IPS central office in Beirut, Lebanon, with some members attending virtually. Members in attendance were IPS-USA President and Chairman Rashid Khalidi, Vice Chair Nadia Abu El-Haj, Philip Mattar, Imad Khalidi, Muhammad Ali Khalidi, Nada Kiblawi, Camille Mansour, Tarek Mitri, and Paul Saba. IPS Director General Khaled Farraj and IPS-USA Director Stephen Bennett were also in attendance.
IPS-USA President Rashid Khalidi delivered a report on a productive year of publications, virtual events, and social media engagement, along with an update on the growing readership of the Journal of Palestine Studies. Members of the Board were briefed on the improved coordination between the staff and researchers based in all three IPS offices in Beirut, Ramallah, and Washington, DC. Other topics discussed included expanding the role of IPS-USA in producing knowledge about Palestine, and options for securing a more efficient office space in the Washington.
In looking ahead to 2023, Board Members approved some adjusted budget priorities to build on the successes of the past year, grow publications and online social media content, and to coordinate sustainable fundraising activities to support all IPS research and programming.
