Highlight | At the beginning of December 2018, the UN General Assembly decided that January 24 every year would be International Day of Education, on the grounds that education is a human right, a common good and a public responsibility and that it plays an important role in bringing about peace and development. UN reports show that there are still about 258 million children who are not enrolled in schools and 617 million children and adolescents who cannot read, write or do basic arithmetic.
