Highlight | Since 1990, most countries observe World Population Day on July 11 of each year, after the UNDP Executive Board saw the need to designate a day to raise awareness of global population issues at the level of governments and civil society organizations. In December 1990, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution to observe this day to raise awareness of various population issues and their relevance to the environment and development.
