Thematic Chronology | After the first Arab summit conference in Cairo in January 1964 commissioned Ahmad al-Shuqairi, Palestine's representative to the Arab League, to organize the Palestinian people, the Palestinian National Conference was inaugurated in East Jerusalem on May 28, 1964, and eventually renamed as the Palestinian National Congress. With the participation of nearly 400 delegates, the PNC declared the establishment of the Palestine Liberation Organization, approved the Palestinian National Charter and the Organization's Basic Law.
