Biography | On May 13, 1992, Jerusalemite Zulaykha al-Shihabi passed away. One of the pioneers of the women's movement in Palestine, her activities during the British Mandate era focused on organizing and educating Palestinian women and pushing them to productive economic work, and putting them in the thick of the national struggle against the Zionist movement. Following the Nakba, She continued her activities. She participated in the first Palestinian conference from which the Palestine Liberation Organization emerged in 1964 and was one of the most prominent participants in establishing the General Union of Palestinian Women in 1965.
