Highlight | The Gaza Strip has witnessed many plans to displace its inhabitants and settle them outside their homeland. In the early 1950s, a plan was hatched to displace large segments of the Gaza Strip's population and settle them in the northwestern Sinai desert, but in early March 1955, it was met with a popular uprising that forced the Egyptian authorities to abandon it.
