Journal of Palestine Studies Announces Cover Redesign Contest
Date:
August 31, 2020

The Journal of Palestine Studies (JPS) invites Palestinian artists and designers to participate in its front cover redesign contest. As JPS celebrates its 50th anniversary as the pioneering English-language academic research publication on Palestine, participants are encouraged to bring this milestone to life.

JPS was established in 1971 as quarterly devoted exclusively to Palestinian affairs and what was then the Arab-Israeli conflict. Today, the Journal continues to publish original research across a multiplicity of disciplines, including history, political science, law, international relations, sociology, anthropology, political economy, and literature, as well as gender, sexuality, race, and cultural studies. In-depth feature articles and interviews are supplemented by a wealth of documentation, and the Journal also carries book reviews, occasional special topic series, and a quarterly bibliography of recent works.

The winning design will be used as the new outside front cover of the Journal starting with Volume 50, Issue 1, due to appear in mid-January 2021. The creator of the winning design will receive a prize of $1,000 and will have the opportunity to be interviewed by Palestine Square, the blog of the Institute for Palestine Studies. The winning design will also be credited on the inside front cover of the Journal.

All specifications, including relevant Journal information required for the cover, are described in the Redesign Specifications Package below.
