Biography | A prominent Palestinian educator and academic, Gabi Baramki studied at Birzeit College before joining the American University in Beirut to study chemistry, where he obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees. Following his return to Palestine, he worked at Birzeit University’s College and became its dean. After receiving his doctorate from McGill University, Canada, Baramki returned to Palestine to work at Birzeit University and assumed its acting presidency until 1993, after the Israeli occupation authorities expelled its president, Hanna Nasir, from Palestine. Following the establishment of the Palestinian Authority, he was chosen as an advisor to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and served as Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council and Vice-President of the Scientific Research Council.
