Abstract

This monograph surveys Syrian-Israeli relations leading up to the Israeli conquest of the Golan in the 1967 war. It also analyzes Syrian and Israeli policies towards the Golan after the June 1967 war. Finally, it addresses the negotiations that occurred from 1991-1996.

Dr. Muhammad Muslih teaches political science at C.W. Post College, Long Island University. He is the author of The Origins of Palestinian Nationalism (Columbia University Press and IPS, 1988) and numerous works on Arab politics and Syrian foreign policy.
