Abstract

In this study, Antoine Zahlan argues that Israeli scientific research is characterised by stress on the pure and applied sciences, and that academic research is subordinated to the needs of the military establishment. The picture emerges of a society whose intellectual activities are concentrated on science and technology, and whose scientific and technical activities are largely controlled by the demands of the military.
