Abstract

This study focuses on the circumstances surrounding the formation of the United Nations Conciliation Commission for Palestine (established by UN General Assembly Resolution 194), and details its course of action and activities during the first three years of its mission, including the Lausanne Conference. The study outlines the reasons for the failure of the Commission and considers the results of Israeli policies of creating facts, and the failure of the United States to ensure Israeli implementation of UN resolutions.
