About the event:

Born in Qalqilya in 1938, Tayseer Qubaa belonged to the generation which started the Palestinian resistance movement. He obtained an MA in history from Cairo University, and he was elected as the president of the General Union of Palestinian Students. He consequently attended the meetings of the Palestinian National Council in May 1964 in Jerusalem, which announced the establishment of the PLO. The Israeli occupation forces detained him in Jerusalem in late 1967 and exiled him to Jordan in 1971, where he was elected as an executive committee member of the PLO, representing the PFLP. He returned to the Occupied Palestinian Territories in 1996 to attend the convention of the Palestinian National Council in Gaza, where he was re-elected vice president of the council. He died in 2016 in Amman where he is also buried.
