About the event:

Palestine Poster Project Archives founder and curator Dan Walsh has spent decades amassing the largest collection of Palestine posters. The standard is simple: any poster in any language from any time period and any source with the word Palestine is added. From the earliest known poster, an 1898 French tourism poster illustrating Bethlehem, to Zionist posters in the 1920s and ‘30s, to posters distributed by Palestinian liberation groups in the 1960s and ’70, the collection numbers over 10,000 and grows with old and new contributions every year. Walsh has organized the archive as a free and accessible tool for researchers, journalists and anyone interested in the history of Palestine. In acknowledgment of his efforts, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) is currently considering a special collection of 1,700 posters within the archives for recognition as part of their Memory of the World program.
