Hunger still stalks Gaza by Ishaan Tharoor
One day before Israel’s pager attack on Lebanon, The Washington Post published “Hunger still stalks Gaza.” This headline framesthe genocide as a “humanitarian crisis,” not a systematic annihilation of a people.
Early into Israel’s escalation of genocide on Gaza, concerns that the decades of siege — atop the deliberate blocking of aid and incessant carpet bombing — would result in famine amongst the Palestinian population. Photos of hundreds of trucks that were denied access at the Rafah border circulated during the course of the genocide with some Israeli settlers and protesters blocking aid near other crossings. Israel has targeted aid sites, bombing warehouses, and distribution sites that store food. Palestinians attempting to seek the little aid that was delivered have been killed, either by airstrikes and snipers or by the aid packages themselves — airdropped by the U.S., crushing or drowning Palestinians to death.
Palestinian farmers who attempted to grow their own food, such as agricultural engineer Yousef Abu Rabee, have been targeted and killed. Throughout the genocide, Israel’s military has razed acres of farmland. This deliberate obfuscation of reality — presenting the famine Israel has manufactured in Gaza as a crisis that is coincidental at best — not only misleads readers but also qualifies as unethical journalism. Hunger is not stalking Gaza. Israel is. And it is killing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and torturing or maiming thousands more.

Israel Scored a Stunning Blow Against Hezbollah. Its Path to Victory Is Less Clear by Michael R. Gordon and Shayndi Raice
The Wall Street Journal continues to cheerlead the Israeli military as if it is a sports team and not a military accused of war crimes and genocide. In an article published on Sept. 19, the WSJ applauds the military for its terrorist attack on the Lebanese people using language akin to sports journalism. Headlined Israel Scored a Stunning Blow Against Hezbollah. Its Path to Victory Is Less Clear, the subheading describes the horrific attack as a “one-two punch against the militant group.” The article goes on to glorify the carnage, highlighting the technical “achievements.”
The Wall Street Journal insists on categorizing the leaders of Hezbollah and Hamas as terrorists, yet glorifies the attacks that Israel carries out as having “clear tactical benefits.” Repeatedly focusing on how it “crippled” Hezbollah, the article never mentions the civilian casualties and injuries that resulted from this attack on Lebanon, nor does it paint a picture of the toll on human life Israel is responsible for in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria.
