Does Anyone Still Care About Palestine? The Impact of Regional Realignments in the Middle East on the Next US Administration and the Palestine-Israel Conflict This October, you’re invited to join editor of the Journal of Palestine Studies, Rashid Khalidi as he moderates the 2016 annual Institute for Palestine Studies panel in Washington, DC, Does Anyone Still Care about Palestine? Speakers will include, Vijay Prashad of Trinity College, Tareq Baconi of Columbia University, Toby Jones of Rutgers University and Mouin Rabbani of the Institute for Palestine Studies. These esteemed scholars and experts will discuss the impact of shifting alliances and regional instability in the Middle East on the next US administration’s approach to the Palestine-Israel conflict. Just one month away from the US presidential elections, this timely discussion will explore the Gulf’s unspoken alliance with Israel against Iran, the Syrian crisis and ISIS, and the changing dynamics in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon, as well as the importance of natural gas finds in the eastern Mediterranean. IPS Senior Fellow Mouin Rabbani will wrap up the discussion with an assessment of where the Palestinian issue likely will fall on the new administrations’ foreign policy agenda. Mark your calendars now. You won’t want to miss this critical conversation! After the talk, please join IPS staff, panelists and guests for a reception.
